It’s all well and good to rescue a puppy from the pound that needs rescuing, or even adopting a dog from one of the many animal shelters, but unless you’re able to take care of the dog in the manner to which it should be treated, you'll only be subjecting yourself and the dog to more trouble.
So think twice before giving in to your kids’ pleading eyes, or your own sympathetic heart, and find out beforehand whether that cute little Afghan Collie you saw the other day, will fit into your lifestyle, or whether you can live the rest of your life with the pleading eyes of a Basset Hound staring at you.
