Housebreaking a puppy will be harder some days versus others. Just today I received an email from a customer saying that the way I taught her to housebreak a puppy didn't work.
Well- not sounding cocky but I knew better.
So after some details we concluded that she had forgotten to do 3 keys that were so important. I said to her- "The solution is in the system". Don' t try and reinvent the wheel. Over 6,000 people have tried this system and it worked. It is proven. Just do the system…
One tip before I go: DO NOT just leave your puppy alone in a room without you… and then have the nerve to get mad at the puppy when he poops. Take your puppy outside right before putting him in the crate and then take him outside again immediately upon returning home. Don't leave any water down on the floor while in this housebreaking process, if you are gone too long he may not be able to help it and have to go. Do make sure to leave him plenty of toys to keep him busy.
Hi, I have read the puppy puppy toilet training. I work 3 days a week and use the Laundry to contain my
puppy. He urinates on the newspaper at the other end of the room from his bed. He also has a doggy door so he
can get outside. He is doing number 2 outside however it is on the path not on the stone area where I want him
to go. He is 4 months is it too late to change this habit?
Will it be confusing if I use the crate method on the 4days I am home and he is in the laundry on the other days?
If I let him in the house he still has accidents. I want to start the program but I am trying to make sure all the preparation is done before I start.

E.I,
Here are some things off the top of my head:
1. Kill the doggie door- This lets him go when he wants to go and where he wants to go. And it also
doesn't help him to learn to control his bladder.
2. Use a leash and follow the program to the letter… read more is system
3. No, it will not confuse him to use the crate- this is a great time to train him that the outside is the place to go- unless he is in the laundry room. Also helps with his bladder control-
Will he like the crate at first? NO- with a capital N… But don't make it an option and he will get used to it.
Read the book on the whining part.
4. No, his age doesn't matter. Yes, you are going to reprogram his habits but what is the alternative?
Peeing in the house for life? Check out page 38.
5. I would not let him have access to the house without the leash or being by your side-
every time he pees or poops in the house and you are not there- it just makes it more difficult next time.
Good luck and YOU can do this.
Cheers,
Trey
Persistence is a major factor when housebreaking a puppy… and it is one of the problems that I see with my clients almost every week. By keeping things persistent and by always reminding your precious puppy at all times wehre they should relieve themselves, you are setting them up for success.
Many puppy owners seem to think that their puppy is relieving himself in the home and doing it because they are too lazy or do not respect your house rules. But listen: Your puppy does not have the ability to think like this and you really need to get that.
